Acupuncture is not only about inserting needles into specific parts of the body to alleviate symptoms. Acupuncture works by balancing the body’s flow of energy with the aim to restore and maintain both physical and emotional harmony.

But how is that achieved?

Acupuncture is one of the branches of Chinese Medicine that can be traced back more than 2000 years. It is based on the principle that illnesses are caused by disruptions of our body’s energy, the so called “qi”. According to Chinese Medicine, the body is a cohesive system where everything is interconnected, and for this reason, Acupuncture treatments focus on the patient as a whole, not only on the illness.

The very fine needles, which are as thin as the width of a hair strand, are inserted into specific points to stimulate the flow of “qi” (our vital energy) triggering the natural healing response. It is like “opening the gate” so “qi” can flow smoothly again, bringing the body back to balance and consequently, health.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture is usually a painless treatment. You might feel a tingling sensation or a dull ache when the point is activated by the needle, which should quickly subsides, giving place to a relaxing and pleasant feeling.

What are the benefits of Acupuncture?

There are so many!! Where should I start?

  • Acupuncture can help with pain relief

  • If performed by a qualified practitioner, Acupuncture is a safe treatment

  • There should be no side effects

  • It can be combined with other treatments

And there is more… Acupuncture also promotes relaxation!!!

How many Acupuncture treatments do I need?

Acupuncture is not a “one and done” type of treatment, just like you wouldn’t expect medicine to work after the first pill. Since it is focused on a holistic approach and long-term benefits, Acupuncture usually requires a course of treatments prior to noticing an improvement.

Are you ready to try Acupuncture now?

Research has shown that Acupuncture can help with a wide range of conditions. Please see the link below with the list from the World Health Organisation (WHO) in which Acupuncture has been proven effective.
